2016 IIHF Worlds Summary: Day 6The summary of the sixth game day of the 2016 IIHF World Championship in Russia.

This year’s World Championship continued with four games, with only a single player from the Avalanche organization seeing game action – only Swiss goalie Reto Berra got to play today.

Slovakia – Belarus 2:4 (0:0, 2:0, 0:4)

Switzerland – Latvia 5:4 (0:0, 3:3, 2:1)

Surrendering losses in their first two games, the Swiss need to rack up as many points as possible in order to avoid relegation battle. After a scoreless first period, Switzerland scored three goals in the second, but Latvia answered with three goals of their own in the same period. Ultimately, it was the Swiss, who ran away with the win, winning the final period 2:1. Berra made 17 saves.

Finland – Hungary 3:0 (0:0, 1:0, 2:0)

Forward Mikko Rantanen was only a healthy scratch yet again.
