Invasion VI: Interview with Pavol

Invasion VI: Interview with PavolEurolanche introduces six members who will travel to Denver, Colorado next week.

Eurolanche introduces the members of the sixth trip of Avs fans to Denver, Colorado. Eurolanche Invasion VI starts next week, on December 27th. Six Eurolanche members from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Austria will spend 14 days in Denver. The trip will be 17 days long in case of difficult traveling from Europe. Their schedule includes seven Colorado Avalanche home games, meetings with players, trips, and many other activities.

Pavol Hercko, 24, was born in Banska Stiavnica, Slovakia and he will be visiting Colorado for first time. He has been a member of Eurolanche since 2008, but an Av fan since 1998, when he got his first Avs Jersey. With some breaks, he has been an editor since he joined Eurolanche. He is studying management at the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics, University of Zilina, and he is supposed to graduate in 2014.

Why did you decide to travel to Colorado?

I was interested in the Invasion a long time ago, but in the past the dates were not suitable for me. This year everything worked well; I didn’t hesitate and I decided to make my dream comes true – to visit USA and at the same time see my favorite sports club.

Did you follow the Eurolanche Invasion in the past? If yes, what were your feelings?

I followed all of them and I really envied all the people participating in it. Everything looks great and I am happy being a part of the experience of a lifetime this year.

What are your expectations from Invasion VI?

First of all I have to say I am really looking forward to seeing the United States. I like travelling and I like to getting know new cultures and new people, so I hope I will learn a lot about US culture. I am really looking forward to meeting with Eurolanche members, especially Rudolf and David, with whom I have been in touch with for a few years already.

Back to hockey. I am really excited to see the best ice hockey league in the world and all the showmanship, which is typical for the NHL. The biggest expectations are of course from the Avs and also from Pepsi Center and personal meetings with players. They’re professionals on the ice and I want to know them also off-ice.

What are you looking forward to the most?

The players and all the Avs related stuff. Besides that, I am really looking forward to meeting new people – Eurolanche members or friends of Eurolanche in the USA. I am also excited for the Mile High City and the nature around Colorado.

What is your preparation process for the trip?

The real preparation will begin when I come back from Finland, as I only have a few days before my departure to Colorado. I already have my visa; that’s the most important thing. I want to get travelling insurance, get a travelling adapter, and then pack all my stuff. I already bought some hockey cards to get signed by players.

What would you say to fans who haven´t decided yet about their participation in the next trips?

It is really good to be an active member of Eurolanche. I have to say that for me the biggest benefit from my work for Eurolanche is the opportunity to be part of the Invasion and get some advantages on this trip. Of course, it is not the cheapest trip, so you have to save some extra money, but on the other side I know this will be my experience of a lifetime.
