Invasion VI: Interview with David

Invasion VI: Interview with DavidEurolanche introduces six members who will travel to Denver, Colorado next week.

Eurolanche introduces the members of the sixth trip of Avs fans to Denver, Colorado. Eurolanche Invasion VI starts this week, on December 27th. Six Eurolanche members from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Austria will spend 14 days in Denver. The trip will be 17 days long in case of difficult traveling from Europe. Their schedule includes seven Colorado Avalanche home games, meetings with players, trips, and many other activities.

David Puchovsky, 23, comes from Bratislava and will travel to Colorado for the fifth time. He has missed only one Invasion. In 2007, David founded the Eurolanche Fan Club and currently holds the title President. He has a master´s degree in journalism and works for the biggest national daily newspaper in Slovakia – Novy Cas.

When did you decide to travel to Colorado?

It was the same as with Invasion V – we didn´t expect that we would go to Denver. Yes, we wanted to go, but not twice in 9 months; only once. When I saw how much interest there was in Invasion VI, I said to myself: why couldn´t we repeat it and travel again? Fans have started to love the new Avalanche era and wins. That has tremendous impact on current and future Invasions. At present, Invasions VII and VIII are preliminary booked.

It will be your fifth time in Denver. What are your expectations?

Of course, I know what I can expect, but we – members and our US friends – try to prepare something new every time. I am looking forward to just being back in Denver. It is one of the nicest places in North America. I hope there will be many local trips to places I have never been before. Regarding hockey, I hope the Avalanche will help us as every time in the past. We would like to get more media interaction too, but, it doesn´t depend on us.

David Puchovsky was accredited as a journalist for one game during the Eurolanche Invasion V.

What is your greatest memory from past Invasions?

It is hard to point at one moment, because there was something special every year. One of the strongest moments that I will never forget was just showing to other fans that this trip is possible. Nothing is impossible for us. Next experiences included meetings with players, interviews, spontaneous meetings with fans and more. Our road trip to Minnesota, albeit a particularly long drive, is on the top too.

Don´t you think your will experience the same?

No, but someone could have this feeling of course. As I said, I await visiting new places and more benefits for the Eurolanche that weren´t there before. Additionally, I’m traveling for the first time as a full time worker, not as a student, so I want to relax too.

What are you most looking forward to?

To the whole Invasion. It will be, and it will exist. I have no one moment. I am really happy that it is going to be organized again.

What are your preparations for the trip?

I am responsible for the whole organization, so it is kind of stressful, but I tried to manage all details ahead of the trip to avoid complications. For example, I took responsibility for airline tickets, accommodations, game tickets, VIP tickets, transportation, contacting media, web issues and more. There are many things on the list, but I believe everything will be great.

What would you say to fans who haven´t decided yet about their participation in future trips?

I think that the fact it is the sixth Invasion since 2008 is an evidence for everyone – no one should hesitate. No one else in the world, in the NHL world, does what we do. We organize an Invasion every year and it gets better from year to year.
